In the Hydra factory, Dr. Zola yanks the bridge lever, and the span splits at its midpoint. Steve Rogers watches as the gap widens, flames and smoke billowing from the chasm below.

Johann Schmidt steadies himself on the opposite side, his eyes gleaming. “No matter what lies Erskine told you, you see, I was his greatest success!” He peels off his latex face, revealing the grotesque crimson visage of the Red Skull, his bony features stark under the flickering light.

Bucky, leaning on Steve, whispers, shocked, “You don’t have one of those, do you?”

The Red Skull tosses his mask into the inferno below, his voice rising. “You are deluded, Captain. You pretend to be a simple soldier, but in reality, you are just afraid to admit that we have left humanity behind. Unlike you, I embrace it proudly. Without fear!” He turns, striding toward an elevator with Zola in tow.

Steve, defiant, shouts across the chasm, “Then how come you’re running?” The metal elevator doors slam shut.

Explosions tear through the factory, shaking the structure. Steve scans the rafters above, searching for another escape route as the building quakes around them.
