Under the overcast sky of the Italian camp, a soldier’s shout rings out. “Look who it is!”
Steve Rogers strides toward Colonel Phillips, at the center of a group of assembled troops. Steve snaps a crisp salute. “Some of these men need medical attention,” he says.
Another soldier calls, “Medic, we got wounded.”
“Right over here,” a medic responds, rushing forward.
Steve meets Phillips’ gaze. “I’d like to surrender myself for disciplinary action.”
Phillips waves a hand. “That won’t be necessary.”
“Yes, sir,” Steve replies.
Phillips glances at Peggy Carter, raising an eyebrow. “Faith, huh?” he says, then walks off.
Peggy steps up to Steve, a faint smile on her lips. “You’re late.”
Steve holds up the broken transponder, its casing cracked. “Couldn’t call my ride.”
Nearby, Bucky Barnes, bruised but grinning, turns to the gathered troops. “Hey! Let’s hear it for Captain America!” The men erupt in cheers, their voices echoing across the camp.
