A man in a parka, holding a metal pole with a red light on top, waves at a truck pulling up in the blinding snowstorm. Two men get out of the truck.

“Are you the guys from Washington?” Asks the man with the pole.

“Do you get many other visitors out here?” asks one of the men from the truck.

“How long have you been onsite?” asks the other man from the truck.

“Since this morning,” replies the man with the pole. “A Russian oil team called it in about eighteen hours ago.”

“How come nobody spotted it before?” asks the second man from the truck.

“Really not that surprising,” says the man with the pole. “This landscape’s changing all the time.”

The three men walk in murky darkness.

“You got any idea what this thing is exactly?” asks the man with the pole.

“I don’t know,” says the second man from the truck. “It’s probably a weather balloon.”

The man with the pole laughs. “I don’t think so,” he says. “You know, we don’t have the equipment for a job like this.”

“How long do you think before we can start craning it up?” asks the first man from the truck.

”I don’t think you quite understand,” replies the man with the pole. “You guys are going to need one hell of a crane!”

The three men join a group of other men, one of whom is shining a flashlight over a very large aircraft wing, sticking out of the ice.

A string of red lights on poles begin to form an outline of a very large plane under the ice.
