In the medical exam room, a nurse whispers to the doctor. He glances at Steve Rogers, a scrawny young man eager to enlist.
“Wait here,” the doctor says, exiting swiftly.
“Is there a problem?” Steve asks, confused.
“Just wait here,” the doctor repeats, disappearing.
Dr. Abraham Erskine enters, dismissing a Military Police Officer. “Thank you,” he says, then faces Steve. “So, you want to go overseas, kill some Nazis.”
“Excuse me?” Steve replies, startled.
“Dr. Abraham Erskine. I represent the Strategic Scientific Reserve,” Erskine says, offering a handshake.
“Steve Rogers,” Steve answers, shaking his hand. “Where are you from?”
“Queens. 73rd Street and Utopia Parkway. Before that, Germany,” Erskine says with a faint smile.
