In Dr. Zola\u2019s laboratory, the air hums with the faint strains of Ein Schwert verhie\u00df mir der Vater<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johann Schmidt, his shadowy face stern, confirms to Dr. Zola, \u201cIt has been given.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zola nods, satisfied. \u201cGood,\u201d he replies, his voice clipped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schmidt gestures toward an artist’s portrait of himself, a hint of pride in his tone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDr. Zola! What do you think?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zola\u2019s eyes gleam with quite a bit of fear and horror as he studies the painting. \u201cA masterpiece,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scene shifts to a car driving through Brooklyn\u2019s familiar streets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steve Rogers, seated beside Peggy Carter, gazes out the window, recognizing the neighborhood. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI know this neighborhood. I got beat up in that alley. And that parking lot. And behind that diner,\u201d he says, pointing out each spot with a wry tone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peggy glances at him, curious. \u201cDid you have something against running away?\u201d she asks, her voice teasing but gentle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steve\u2019s expression hardens with resolve. \u201cYou start running, they’ll never let you stop. You stand up, you push back. They can’t say no forever, right?\u201d he says, his words steady.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peggy nods, a flicker of understanding in her eyes. \u201cI know a little of what that’s like…\u201d she begins, her tone soft, connecting with his determination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
