\u201cThey will undoubtedly shoot back,\u201d Peggy retorts.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, let\u2019s hope it\u2019s good for something,\u201d Steve says, patting his shield.<\/p>\n
Howard glances back, a smirk on his face. \u201cAgent Carter? If we\u2019re not in too much of a hurry, I thought we could stop off in Lucerne for a late-night fondue.\u201d<\/p>\n
Peggy ignores him, focusing on Steve. \u201cStark is the best civilian pilot I\u2019ve ever seen. He\u2019s mad enough to brave this airspace. We\u2019re lucky to have him.\u201d<\/p>\n
Steve hesitates, glancing between them. \u201cSo, are you two\u2026 Do you\u2026 fondue?\u201d<\/p>\n
Peggy, unfazed, hands him a device. \u201cThis is your transponder. Activate it when you\u2019re ready, and the signal will lead us straight to you.\u201d<\/p>\n
Steve eyes the gadget. \u201cAre you sure this thing works?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been tested more than you, pal,\u201d Howard replies, grinning.<\/p>\n
Flak bursts outside, rocking the plane. Steve moves to the open rear door, wind whipping past. Peggy shouts, \u201cGet back here! We\u2019re taking you all the way in!\u201d More flak explodes, closer now.<\/p>\n
Steve grips the doorframe. \u201cAs soon as I\u2019m clear, you turn this thing around and get the hell out of here!\u201d<\/p>\n
